Faulty Fuel Injector in 2020-23 Ford Bronco Sport and Escape

A lawsuit has been filed against Ford in the beginning of February 2023 in regards to the faulty fuel injector in Ford Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles. Of those two models, certain fuel injectors were found to have immense cracks that can result in the entire vehicle catching on fire. Ford has since recalled the vehicles, with over 500,000 vehicles and rising already being recalled. Now it’s time to find out if your Ford applies to this case for compensation.

Signs Your Ford is Affected

In a statement published on their website in November 2022 during the recall, Ford noted that any strong smell of gasoline in the Ford Bronco Sport or Escape models can indicate a cracked fuel injector. The strong smell of gasoline goes for the interior and exterior of the car.

The major issue comes with the vehicle being on and any fuel that escapes from the cracks found in the fuel injector come into contact with hot surfaces, creating a fire underneath the hood. The models that have been noted to have this defect include all models with the base models' 181-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine.

So far, over 54 Ford vehicles have had an underhood fire. The specific models that are affected with the defect include:

  • 2020 to 2023 Ford Escape with 1.5-liter engine
  • 2021 to 2023 Ford Bronco Sport with 1.5-liter engine

The potential risks of having a damaged fuel injector include:

  • Engine damage
  • Reduced engine performance
  • Poor gas mileage
  • Reduction in vehicle power
  • Fire hazard

Although Ford is offering free service on cars that have been recalled and effected, the life-threatening risks that the cars have posed to consumers are grounds for an effective lawsuit.

Compensation Opportunity for Ford Owners

If you or a loved one have been affected by the Ford recall or have had a fire occur within your model listed above, you may be entitled to compensation. This is a very new case that has just had lawsuits filed on February 17, 2023.

The plaintiffs in the current filed suit and those who are interested in joining the class action complaint can seek compensation from:

  • Inconvenience
  • Cost of the product
  • Car damage
  • Fire risk to you and passengers
  • Brand negligence

If you have purchased any of the above car models or have been inflicted with more extensive damage from the fuel injector defect, you may be entitled to compensation.

Retaining a law firm to assist with filing and following through with a lawsuit against Ford can be extremely beneficial to you and your case. Finding a law firm that has experience with mass tort actions, class action lawsuits, or other complicated litigation can also be beneficial to the outcome of your case.
